Using 19-bit encoders as a standard feature ensures consistent movements and accurate positioning. 25-bit encoders are available for meeting the highest demands. The absolute encoder functions without a battery result is a highly dependable encoder that uses permanent-magnet-excited servo motors in which the only parts subject to wear are the bearings. The bearings are sufficiently dimensioned and filled with high quality synthetic lubricant. For unusually high demands, the motors are also available with reinforced bearings to withstand high radial forces. The temperature levels in the motor are monitored with two independently functioning systems. A linear temperature sensor is located in the motor winding. A second temperature model integrated in the inverter calculates a virtual motor temperature from the process data, ensuring all around protection of the motor winding.

The new switch is ideal for long bypasses with several working stations and for deviations with an angle of 45°. TracSwitch Arena has an incoming and outgoing angle of 45°, so that the shuttle and the workpieces move along the deviation more smoothly compared to a conventional switch with a 90° angle.

The modular design allows simple and quick separation of the individual chain links; no additional loose connecting elements are required. The self-cleaning drum motor is designed to provide hygiene with regard to daily cleaning activities as well as superior operational reliability. Boasting a fully integrated self-cleaning mechanism, the drum motors are predestined for use in conveyor systems that can be operated without the need for manual cleaning of individual components. Supplied with water and a cleaning agent, the motor with its specially positioned nozzles is capable of cleaning itself. In parallel, the unit also cleans the underside of the conveyor line within the area of the motor as well as the joints of the modular plastic conveyor belts. The motor has been equipped with a second jacket tube, which delivers the incoming cleaning liquid to the nozzles via a special chamber system. The liquid enters the unit via the drum motor axis and is then distributed to the chamber system. Approx. 20 nozzles per dm2 surface are responsible for cleaning the entire unit at a predefined pressure.

With limited space conditions the RD4 magnetostrictive model offers a distinct advantage. The unit consists of a pressure-resistant sensor pipe connected with the external electronics head via a flexible, oil-proof PUR cable. A passive, non-contact position magnet passes along the sensor pipe and in conjunction with the ‘interrogation’ current, measures the required position. Designed specially for hydraulic applications, the rod with the sensing element can be mounted into the cylinder while the remote electronics housing is fitted separately on the outside of the cylinder housing. With a of linearity < ± 0,02% F.S., repeatability < ± 0,001% F.S. and resolution of at least 10µm, the sensor is suitable for precise measurement of position and speed signals. Stroke lengths within 25 and 5,000mm and the analogue, SSI, CANbus, DeviceNet, Profibus and EtherCAT interface offer a variety of options. LEDs are fitted on the sensor head for easy self-diagnostics.

New Vario planetary cone disc variators are built in an aluminium die-casted housing in 3 sizes to fit IEC size motors 63, 71 and 80 respectively. The standard unit includes the motor B5 flange connection, but allows for a detachable foot. A closed input flange is an integral part of the casing, so preventing the possibility of oil leaks. Each Vario is equipped with filler, level and breather plugs allowing for mounting in any position. The magnetic filler plug maintains clean lubricant and extends the maintenance intervals. Vario can operate in both directions; input and output shafts rotate in the same direction. The cone discs are made in case hardened bearing steel, to increase durability. The housing and flanges are blasted and painted, to protect against aluminium porosity and oxidation. A hand wheel can be fitted to both sides of control box for convenience.

A new range of steel couplings are designed around a disc pack of stainless spring steel as the drive element. Two carbon steel hubs are connected to either side of the discs by a system of micrometric precision bushings and highly resistant screws. The design ensures a high degree of torsional stiffness and backlash free operation. This is important on applications with frequent stopsstarts, reversing, accurate positioning and for applications on packaging machinery, servo motors, printing presses, machine tools and general automation. Additionally, because of their steel construction they are suitable for use in applications up to 240°C. The new couplings are machined with very close manufacturing tolerances for concentricity and perpendicularity and are therefore suitable for high speed applications, even where irregular torques might be present in the system. The range includes series one couplings, series two couplings.

The SSC module is suitable for mounting on a bulkhead close to the sensor and is secured in place using M5 fixing holes. Compact Rail is a simple, precision, system that is easy and inexpensive to mount on all surfaces, and which self-aligns to another rail even if mounting surfaces are not perfectly parallel. Linear bearings reduce the friction of straight movements, but in this case the sliders cleverly adjust to absorb the forces resulting from misalignment. Adjustable sliders assemble into the system at an angle to conform to the table's imperfect geometry while taking their share of radial load or moment. These bearings come in pairs of hardened Cshaped channels. The first has flat races and allows lateral freedom while the second holds the bearings on one side, allowing a rotational freedom on the other. When used together, this system allows up to ±2° of rotational and 4 mm of lateral freedom meaning that the rails can be mounted to non-machined surfaces out of parallel by up to 4°.
